The Riverside-Durham Pirates suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Chapel Hill, falling 48-5. Riverside-Durham has not had much luck with Chapel Hill recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Riverside-Durham got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Beck Arredondo and
Shameia Holder, who each put up two points.
Chapel Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashton Beale led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadzia Burnette, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Riverside-Durham has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Riverside-Durham will head out on the road to challenge Jordan at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chapel Hill, they will be playing at home against Northern Durham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Northern Durham has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
