The Carthage Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 70-21 loss at the hands of Indian River. Carthage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-10.
It was another big night for Ravan Marsell, who scored 25 points along with five assists and five steals for Indian River. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Davis, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Carthage's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.9 points per game. As for Indian River, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Carthage will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Indian River will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against General Brown at 12:00 p.m. on December 23rd.
