It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Knightstown had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the South Decatur Cougars as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
C Gossett made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
In other batting news, B Johnson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was P Pyle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The victory was the 11th in a row for Knightstown, bringing their record up to 21-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
