The Williams Valley Vikings lost against the Minersville Battlin' Miners back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Williams Valley fell 65-53 to the Battlin' Miners. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Williams Valley in their matchups with the Battlin' Miners: they've now lost four in a row.
Minersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shazier Bethea, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Bethea is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Yourey, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Williams Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Minersville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williams Valley and the Red Raiders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Minersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Schuylkill Haven is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
