Basketball Recap: JP Izzo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Beech Grove

Lawrenceburg won the last time they faced Beech Grove and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lawrenceburg Tigers wrapped up 2024 with a 64-49 win over the Beech Grove Hornets. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Lawrenceburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JP Izzo, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Those six assists gave Izzo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Knigga, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Izzo wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lawrenceburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Beech Grove still got an impressive performance from Davion Mcdonald, who posted nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bishop Moore, who put up eight points.

Lawrenceburg moved to 6-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Beech Grove, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Lawrenceburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-46 defeat against Gainesville on the 28th. As for Beech Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-55 win against Newport Central Catholic on the 28th.
