Baseball Recap: Sleepy Eye Takes a Loss

If Sleepy Eye was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of St. Mary's on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians fell 8-4 to the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers on Friday. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Chargers since on Friday.

Carson Uecker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Sleepy Eye has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Minnesota Valley Lutheran, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Looking ahead, Sleepy Eye will welcome Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Minnesota Valley Lutheran, they will challenge New Ulm Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
