The Ralston Rams fell victim to the Waverly Vikings''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Vikings on the road and fell 42-0. While losing is never fun, Ralston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Waverly is ranked 12th).
Cade Stix threw for 80 yards on eight of 18 attempts. Aj Ress-conkey was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waverly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aden Smith, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Waverly also got a significant boost from Harrison Smith, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.
Ralston are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Waverly, their win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Ralston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Waverly will face off against Hastings at TBD on Friday. Hastings is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
