Softball Game Preview: Rogers Rams vs. South Kitsap Wolves

For the first time this season, Rogers will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to take on the South Kitsap Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Rogers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so South Kitsap's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rogers' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Juanita by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Sierra Murray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

Murray wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley Humphrey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Humphrey also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, South Kitsap won against West Seattle on Saturday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. South Kitsap beat Nathan Hale by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1.

Rogers' record now sits at 3-1. As for South Kitsap, their record now sits at an identical 3-1.

Rogers skirted past South Kitsap 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rogers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
