3A South Puget Sound recap October 8, 2013
Lakes was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in 3A South Puget Sound. The Lancers vanquished Decatur 42-21 earlier in the week.
Peninsula took down Bonney Lake 56-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Auburn Mountainview's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gresch Jensen threw for 292 and 3 touchdowns and Joey Cassano had 213 yards receiving. On the ground Jensen contributed 135 yards. Ray Hardaway helped Auburn Mountainview's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 54 yards.
Abenego Kodiano made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lions fell to Enumclaw. The 5-foot-5 junior pulled down 1 interception.
Cassano had an awesome week catching the football as Auburn Mountainview lost to the Hornets. He caught 14 passes for 213 yards.
He was 24-44 with 3 interceptions.
Jensen was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 135 yards on 22 carries as Jared Gervis' team fell to Enumclaw. Teammate Hardaway added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Lions' Jensen and Cassano have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Jensen has thrown for 1,131 yards this season, while Cassano has 44 catches for 652 yards. Mauricio Portillo from Mark Gunderson's team leads the league in rushing with 421 yards.
A big matchup in 3A South Puget Sound this week will be when Lakes takes on the Hornets. As it stands, Dave Miller's team is in third, while Enumclaw is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Lancers take on the Hornets. Lakes has allowed 146 points this season, while Enumclaw has given up 132. The Lancers allowed 21 points last week as they bested the Golden Gators.
