Mitchell has gone 8-1 against Hudson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mitchell Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Hudson Cobras at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Hudson will be up against a hot Mitchell team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Mitchell's way against Gulf on Thursday as Mitchell made off with a 14-1 win. Considering the Mustangs have won three matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Savannah Toukatly was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Toukatly was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Tucker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Tucker, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Hudson made easy work of Fivay on Thursday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cobras in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won six in a row.
Miley Clarke and Bella Veraldi did most of the damage at the plate: Clarke went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Veraldi went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Veraldi has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Audree Osborn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Mitchell's record now sits at 4-0. As for Hudson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Mitchell's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Mitchell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hudson, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mitchell continue to outrun the ball?
Mitchell took their win against Hudson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mitchell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
