After a string of three wins, the Salado Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against La Vega, falling 83-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Salado in their matchups with La Vega: they've now lost six in a row.
La Vega's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiyleyah Parr, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Angela Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Salado's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for La Vega, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salado will challenge Connally at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Connally will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. La Vega's road trip will continue as they head out to face Robinson at 6:15 p.m. on January 26th. Robinson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 674th, while La Vega is ranked 12th).
