The Harrison Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sand Creek Scorpions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harrison is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Harrison was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Cougars.
Despite the loss, Harrison had strong showings from Jeilo Hamenyimana, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, and Kenneth Jones jr, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Jones jr has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, even though Elizabeth scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, Sand Creek still came out on top. Sand Creek skirted past the Cardinals 65-62. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sand Creek.
Sand Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Kotto out in front who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Brotherns, who scored 12 points along with five blocks and two steals.
Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Sand Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Harrison have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Sand Creek struggles in that department as they've made 38.4% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Harrison was able to grind out a solid victory over the Scorpions in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 64-55. Will Harrison repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
