Monrovia and Temple City are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Monrovia Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Temple City Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Monrovia suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by South Pasadena on the road and fell 81-39. While losing is never fun, Monrovia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 887th, while South Pasadena is ranked 120th).
Meanwhile, Temple City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against San Marino, falling 70-32. Temple City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.
Despite their loss, Temple City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mason Collins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all.
This is the second loss in a row for Monrovia and nudges their season record down to 6-12. As for Temple City, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-12.
Monrovia beat Temple City 74-62 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Temple City's Brandan Falk, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
