The Crisp County Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Thomasville Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Crisp County ended up a good deal behind Columbus and lost 58-40.
Despite the loss, Crisp County had strong showings from Zakariyya Dwight, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, and Jaylon Cooper, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Dwight has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Zymarion Hudson was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Thomasville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dougherty. While losing is never fun, Thomasville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Dougherty is ranked 46th).
Crisp County has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Thomasville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.
Crisp County was able to grind out a solid victory over Thomasville in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 49-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crisp County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
