After both having extra time off, the Chaparral Wolverines and the Rock Canyon Jaguars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Chaparral got the win against ThunderRidge by a conclusive 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-16, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon faced Legend in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Jaguars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The Jaguars' defeat signaled the end of their 15-game winning streak.
While Rock Canyon had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 13-25, 25-20, 25-23.
Rock Canyon's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 15-2. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Chaparral has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chaparral took their victory against Rock Canyon when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
