Baseball Recap: Rattan Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

Rattan won against Battiest last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Rattan Rams beat the Rock Creek Mustangs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-2. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Ben Ellis and Shade Cody made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Ellis tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cody struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. At bat, Ellis scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3, while Cody went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave Ellis a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Rattan let James Childers and Kooper Johnson run wild. Childers scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Childers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keller Shockey, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rattan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Creek struck out 14 times.

Rattan pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Creek, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Rattan will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Hilldale at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Rock Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Colbert at 4:00 p.m.
