On Tuesday, Colorado Springs School came up short against James Irwin and fell 60-48. While losing is never fun, Colorado Springs School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while James Irwin is ranked 67th).
Meanwhile, Kiowa had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Deer Trail 58-20 on the road. Kiowa's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Paulino Lupercio, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vicente Bolivar, who scored 13 points.
Colorado Springs School has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Kiowa, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Colorado Springs School strolled past Kiowa in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a score of 59-42. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Kiowa's Kayden Kalisch, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Colorado Springs School to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
