Hawthorne is 0-6 against Williston since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Hawthorne put up the most runs they have all season last Friday. They never let Cedar Key get on the board and left with a 31-0 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Wyatt Jacobs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hawthorne is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. Jacobs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hawthorne got a massive performance out of Caleb Jacobs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Jacobs has become a key player for the Hornets: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Connor Flinchum was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
Hawthorne hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Williston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Chiefland on Friday.
Like Hawthorne, Williston also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Phillips. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daxton Weston, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Conquest, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Williston's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hawthorne, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Hawthorne suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Williston when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
