Triton is a perfect 8-0 against E.E. Smith since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Triton Hawks will host the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls at 7:00 p.m. Triton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Triton proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Cape Fear 4-2.

Brayden Bates made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Triton is undefeated when Bates allowsone or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Bates was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Sewell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, E.E. Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 22-8 to Seventy-First. One positive for the Golden Bulls, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Nick Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, E.E. Smith always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
E.E. Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Triton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Triton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like E.E. Smith struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Triton took their win against E.E. Smith in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1. Will Triton repeat their success, or does E.E. Smith have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
