The Maysville Panthers stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past River View, posting a 71-29 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Maysville sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Maysville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gator Nichols led the charge by going 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. Another player making a difference was Alex Bobb, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, River View had strong showings from Laired Williamson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Layton Massie, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Maysville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for River View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maysville will challenge the Generals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheridan is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for River View, they will head out on the road to take on the Scotties at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Black Bears in Ohio (the Scotties are ranked 83rd, while the Black Bears are ranked 574th).
