The Maurepas Wolves will take on the Independence Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Independence will be up against a hot Maurepas squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wolves put the hurt on False River with a sharp 13-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Wolves have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Khloe Luquette, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Gabby Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Independence got the win against Bogalusa on Wednesday by a conclusive 20-1. That 19-run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
Chloe Drake made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Drake was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Independence got a massive performance out of Taylor Jones, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angel Loving, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Independence's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Maurepas, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Maurepas got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Independence by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
