After a string of three wins, the Leyton Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Peetz on the road by a decisive 59-45 margin. Leyton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Peetz apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Calvin Borgmann, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Kaleb Borges was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Leyton's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Jeremiah Hajek got a bit more time on the court (32 vs. his season average of 13.47). Hajek made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
It was another big night for Noah Naegele, who scored 22 points along with three steals and three blocks for Peetz. It was the first time this season that Naegele posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Rhyder Bayne, who scored 16 points.
Leyton's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Peetz, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leyton and Sedgwick County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Leyton is ranked 222nd in Nebraska, while Sedgwick County is ranked 209th in Colorado). As for Peetz, they will be playing at home against Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Peetz's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Caliche has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
