This season hasn't been kind to the Kopperl Eagles, who are still winless after their tenth match. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 40-20 walloping at the hands of Morgan on Tuesday. Kopperl has struggled against Morgan recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Morgan was led to victory by Elizabeth Gonzalez and Bianca Aviles. Gonzalez scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Aviles scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. Briseyda Romo was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Kopperl bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.5 points per game. As for Morgan, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kopperl will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Morgan, they will head out on the road to face off against Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
