Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

Two dominant guards in Riley Johnson and Izzy Silcox are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Heritage Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Heritage Christian took on Guerin Catholic on Saturday. The Eagles secured a 40-34 W over the Golden Eagles.

Heritage Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elyse Snively, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 14 points. Snively is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Trinity Taylor, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 60 points the game before, Greenfield-Central was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by Pendleton Heights and fell 61-23. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.

Greenfield-Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Heritage Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Heritage Christian ended up a good deal behind Greenfield-Central when the teams last played back in November of 2024, losing 55-38. Thankfully for the Eagles, Madison Sonsini (who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
