The Northeastern Eagles entered their tilt with the Camden County Bruins with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Northeastern strolled past Camden County with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-39. Given Northeastern's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Camden County is ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jasmine Felton, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Felton is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Alexander, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Camden County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tessa Dodson. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with two steals. Leilah Roberson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Northeastern pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Camden County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Northeastern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. South Central will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Northeastern surely won't give up without a fight. As for Camden County, they will head out on the road to square off against Hertford County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hertford County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
