The Jefferson County Tigers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Provine Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Jefferson County and eight for Provine.
On Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Jefferson County had to settle for a 34-31 defeat against Hazlehurst. While losing is never fun, Jefferson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Hazlehurst is ranked 111th).
Meanwhile, Provine came up short against Canton on Thursday and fell 49-36. Provine has struggled against Canton recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Jefferson County's loss dropped their record down to 0-7-1. As for Provine, they bumped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
