The Kelly Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 40-15 loss at the hands of Northside. Kelly was down 36-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Delilah Lopez was Kelly's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Alexandra Zaldivar held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Kelly's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Northside, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.
Kelly won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hancock's defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Trojans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Northside, they will head out on the road to square off against the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Illinois (the Broncos are ranked 37th, while the Mustangs are ranked 341st).
