Springfield came tearing into Saturday's match with 12 straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Steele Comets 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.
While Springfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14, 27-25.
Logan Goodrick paced Springfield's offense, picking up nine kills. Goodrick got some help from Reed Schwieterman and his 15 assists.
Defeat or not, Steele got some senior leadership from Jake Penano and Prince Tran. Penano had 19 digs and one assist, while Tran had 15 digs. Springfield pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Steele, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
