The Durant Cougars will face off against the Bloomingdale Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Durant will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Durant is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Newsome to the tune of 50-21 on Friday. The Cougars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 30, 2024 (when they won 41-7).
Durant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Themar led the charge by throwing for 153 yards and three TDs on perfect 8-for-8 passing, while also rushing for 74 yards and one score. Themar was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Another player making a difference was King Rivera, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Durant was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bloomingdale came up short against Berkeley Prep on Friday and fell 28-15. While losing is never fun, the Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 90th).
Durant will have to contain Preston Beckham as he made an impact in Bloomingdale's last game. He rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Beckham's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 104 rushing yards. Sammy Zelaya was another key player, rushing for 126 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Bloomingdale and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Durant, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Everything went Durant's way against Bloomingdale in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Durant made off with a 27-3 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
