Vannoy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Collinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for Collinsville: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Whitewright put the hurt on Trenton with a sharp 16-9 victory. The result was nothing new for Whitewright, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Whitewright let Joslyn Jones and Mac Barnett run wild. Jones went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Barnett went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Severson, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Whitewright pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Collinsville, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Collinsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Whitewright struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
