Baseball Game Preview: Bishop England Battling Bishops vs. May River Sharks

The Bishop England Battling Bishops will face off against the May River Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop England knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully May River likes a good challenge.

Bishop England not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024. Everything went their way against Hilton Head Island as Bishop England made off with a 13-1 victory. The Battling Bishops haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Davis Metz looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Finn Corley and WYATT LYNN did most of the damage at the plate: Corley scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while LYNN scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. LYNN also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sammy Garton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bishop England always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, May River didn't have quite enough to beat Philip Simmons on Thursday and fell 2-1.

May River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tysen Brasington, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

May River's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bishop England, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Bishop England came out on top in a nail-biter against May River in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-1. Will Bishop England repeat their success, or does May River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
