The SkyView Academy Hawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Peak to Peak Pumas at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, SkyView Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Bruce Randolph, taking the game 41-30. The win was just what SkyView Academy needed coming off of a 45-20 loss in their prior matchup.
Lydia Slocum and Maggie Barrett were among the main playmakers for SkyView Academy as the former scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and the latter dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Slocum pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Martin, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Peak to Peak had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-39 victory over Eaton. Given Peak to Peak's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Eaton is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexandra Eschmeyer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Peak to Peak's points. Another player making a difference was Megan Wagner, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
SkyView Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Peak to Peak, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: SkyView Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Peak to Peak, though, as they've been averaging only 32 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
