For the second straight game, Gladstone will face off against Estacada. The Gladiators will square off against the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gladstone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Estacada hit Gladstone with a ten-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gladiators came up short against the Rangers, falling 13-5. The Gladiators' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
For Estacada's part, Laney Briones was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Briones has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Samantha Klein was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Izabella Allgeier, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Estacada kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Estacada's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Gladstone, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.
Gladstone's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Gladiators have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Estacada, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Gladstone continue to outrun the ball?
