Houston has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Germantown Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Houston rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 40-7 victory over Collierville. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Houston just coasted through the last quarter.
Chandler Day had a dynamite game for Houston, throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Day has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Sisa, who gained 113 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Germantown put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Bartlett 38-16. Given Germantown's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Bartlett is ranked 25th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Houston pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.4 points per game. As for Germantown, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Houston and Germantown were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in September, but Houston came up empty-handed after a 14-13 defeat. Can Houston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
