The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 38-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for SA Roosevelt in their matchups with Madison: they've now lost three in a row.
SA Roosevelt's loss came despite strong showings from Maddison Castillo and Taaliah Miller. Castillo scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Miller scored six points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nadia Bailey, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bailey has scored at least 25% of Madison's points. Jada Castleberry was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
SA Roosevelt has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Madison, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
SA Roosevelt will head out on the road to face off against Johnson at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than SA Roosevelt in Texas (Johnson is ranked 286th, while SA Roosevelt is ranked 1072nd). Madison is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Brandeis at 12:30 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Brandeis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
