Basketball Game Preview: Mooresville Blue Devils vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

Mooresville and Hickory Ridge are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Mooresville Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mooresville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matches -- so hopefully Hickory Ridge likes a good challenge.

Mooresville is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Cox Mill: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mooresville blew Cox Mill out of the water with a 78-49 final score. With the Blue Devils ahead 37-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Dylan Clark continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Christian Wilson, who posted 11 points.

Mooresville was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hickory Ridge). They claimed a resounding 99-72 victory over A.L. Brown. Given the Ragin' Bulls' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Wonders are ranked 493rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mooresville has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Hickory Ridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.

Mooresville strolled past Hickory Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 74-60. Does Mooresville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickory Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
