The Floyd Central Highlanders pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Richmond on the road by a decisive 75-61 margin.
Despite the loss, Floyd Central still got an impressive performance from Brock Conrad, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Another player making a difference was Tristan Robertson, who scored 8 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds.
Cedric Horton was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 22 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Richmond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Carpenter, who scored 14 points.
Floyd Central now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Richmond, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Floyd Central will be playing in front of their home fans against New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Albany knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Floyd Central likes a good challenge. As for Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
