Basketball Game Preview: Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets vs. Severn School Admirals

Chapelgate Christian Academy and Severn School are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Admirals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chapelgate Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Severn School likes a good challenge.

Chapelgate Christian Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Pallotti on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Panthers, falling 81-56. The Yellowjackets were down 61-36 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Loss or not, Chapelgate Christian Academy got some senior leadership from Justin Davis and Isaiah Meadows. Davis went 8-for-15 on his way to 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Meadows dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Davis is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Paul Ayivor was another key player, shooting 55% from the field en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Severn School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Sunday. They came out on top against the Lakers by a score of 53-44.

Chapelgate Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Severn School, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Chapelgate Christian Academy took a serious blow against Severn School in their previous meeting back in January, falling 66-33. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Yellowjackets were down 38-16.
