Roosevelt is 0-9 against Jackson-Reed since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Roughriders are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Roosevelt sitting on three straight wins and Jackson-Reed on 13.
Roosevelt is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Dunbar.

The team relied heavily on Desmond Davis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Roosevelt: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayden Harrod - Daniels, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They didn't even let Coolidge on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 21-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won 19 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Klein looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).
At the plate, Giancarlos Ramirez was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Brauss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Jackson-Reed's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their record now sits at 9-6.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Roosevelt has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Jackson-Reed struggles in that department as they've averaged .523. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Roosevelt suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Jackson-Reed when the teams last played last Friday. Can the Roughriders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
