Softball Recap: Royal Wins Going Away Against Adna

The Royal Knights made easy work of the Adna Pirates on Saturday and carried off an 8-1 victory. Considering the Knights have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jill Allred was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adalynn Andersen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Royal's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Adna, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Royal has already played their next contest, a 17-5 victory against Warden on the 12th. As for Adna, they will take on Mossyrock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.86 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
