Basketball Recap: Tailor Coles Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Amherst County

Heritage hadn't done well against Amherst County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Heritage Pioneers secured a 42-36 W over the Amherst County Lancers. This was a revenge game for the Pioneers: when they faced off against the Lancers back in January, they had to take a 57-51 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tailor Coles, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Coles a new career-high in blocks (five). Another player making a difference was Calyce Garvin, who posted 15 points.

Amherst County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Hooper, who had nine points and eight rebounds. Addie Kurko was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Amherst County, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Heritage has already played their next game (against Glass), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Amherst County will venture away from home to face off against Brookville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
