The Menlo-Atherton Bears will head out on the road to challenge the El Camino Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Menlo-Atherton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Menlo-Atherton after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-1 to Notre Dame. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, El Camino had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Jefferson on Wednesday. The Colts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Isabella Totah was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Totah was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Lara Rezende was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mahealani Keahi, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
El Camino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Menlo-Atherton's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for El Camino, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-8.
Menlo-Atherton took their victory against El Camino in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
