The Lawrence North Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They had just enough and edged North Central out 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Lawrence North to victory were Kobi Bowles and Azavier Robinson. Bowles scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Robinson scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brennan Miller was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, North Central still got an impressive performance from Jaxson Bell, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Petty, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, North Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lawrence North's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. As for North Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Lawrence North will be playing in front of their home fans against New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. New Palestine knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Lawrence North likes a good challenge. North Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Muncie Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while North Central is ranked 13th).
