Softball Recap: Woodstown Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Woodstown extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-7 in the process. They blew past the Wildwood Warriors 14-2. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Leah Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Kendall Young and Elizabeth Wygand did most of the damage at the plate: Young went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Wygand went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave Wygand a new career-high. Hannah Hitchner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Woodstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wildwood only posted an OBP of .143.

As for Wildwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Wildwood's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Ennis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Ennis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Looking ahead, Woodstown will venture away from home to face off against Ocean City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wildwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
