Fairfield hasn't had much luck against Pretty Prairie recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fairfield Falcons will look to defend their home court against the Pretty Prairie Bulldogs. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Fairfield is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Attica on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Fairfield took a blow against Attica, falling 60-30. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 97th).
Despite their loss, Fairfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rhylee Haskins, who posted three points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kenley Fowler, who earned ten points.
Meanwhile, Pretty Prairie was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 37-31 to Central Christian. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like Pretty Prairie, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Amity White led the charge by putting up 11 points and five steals. Pretty Prairie is 3-1 when White posts five or more steals, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Miller, who put up 11 points.
Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Pretty Prairie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fairfield has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Pretty Prairie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fairfield suffered a grim 46-26 defeat to Pretty Prairie in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Fairfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
