Basketball Game Preview: Fort Thomas Apaches vs. Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats

Fort Thomas has gone 10-0 against Dishchii'bikoh recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Fort Thomas Apaches will face off against the Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fort Thomas comes in on six and Dishchii'bikoh on four.

Fort Thomas' offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Tuesday, when they got past Duncan's usually-dominant defense. Fort Thomas blew past Duncan 63-27. The Apaches have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Fort Thomas can attribute much of their success to Jamie Johnson, who went 8 of 12 en route to 18 points and six rebounds, and Adaia Lorenzo, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and three steals. The matchup was Lorenzo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Benally, who posted seven points along with seven boards and five assists.

Fort Thomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Dishchii'bikoh earned a 51-42 victory over El Capitan on Tuesday.

Fort Thomas is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Dishchii'bikoh, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Fort Thomas took their victory against Dishchii'bikoh when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 58-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Thomas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
