Sterlington took down Homer 42-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Devon Murphy ran for 112 yards during the win.
Jonesboro-Hodge made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,863 from 11,016. The advance stemmed from a 20-0 victory over the Tigers last week.
The Panthers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Murphy contributed 112 yards.
Murphy provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sterlington defeated the Pelicans.
Murphy was the most successful running back in 2A District 2 this week. Teammate Jaquarius Douglas added to the ground attack by rushing for 86 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Ferriday's Ronald Williams and Adrian Wiggins have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Williams has thrown for 261 yards this season, while Wiggins has 4 catches for 109 yards. Jaylon Wade from Jason Thompson's team leads the league in rushing with 560 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Trojans' Wiggins goes up against the Panthers' Jaylan King.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Ferriday and Sterlington face off next week.
Next week's game between Cleothis Cummings III's team and the Panthers will feature a good passing match up as Williams will test his arm against King's defensive ability.
A big matchup in 2A District 2 this week will be when Lake Providence takes on Winnfield. The Panthers are currently in fourth, while the Tigers are in second.
