The Iowa Colony Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Navasota Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Iowa Colony knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Navasota likes a good challenge.
Iowa Colony had a rough season last year, but they looks ready to turn that poor record around this year. They took their contest at home two Fridays ago with ease, bagging a 48-7 victory over Brazosport. Given Iowa Colony's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Brazosport is ranked 830th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Carson White was on fire: he threw for 227 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Antoine Martin Jr was in the mix as well, providing Iowa Colony with two touchdowns.
Iowa Colony's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Henry Kalu and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Navasota pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 56-42 fall against Needville.
Iowa Colony's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-0. They've been dominating across those matchups too: they took their wins by an average of 43.67 points. As for Navasota, their loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5.
Iowa Colony won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2022, slipping by Navasota 35-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Iowa Colony since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
