Softball Recap: Aptos Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Aptos won the last time they faced Soquel and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mariners blew past the Knights 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Aptos let Gwen Vaca and Nova Neu run wild. Vaca got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Neu went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kailani Aguayo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Aptos has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Soquel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aptos will face off against rival Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Mariners' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Pirates have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Soquel is set to square off against their familiar foe Scotts Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
