The Memorial Mustangs were the 44-43 winner over the Alief Taylor Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Memorial fell 47-39 to Alief Taylor on Tuesday.
Nathan Kongolo was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with 7 rebounds for Alief Taylor. Another player making a difference was Nefi Taiwo, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Memorial has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Alief Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Memorial will be playing in front of their home fans against Dekaney at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Alief Taylor is on the road again on Friday and play against Sam Rayburn at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Sam Rayburn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1264th, while Alief Taylor is ranked 548th).
